Visit measurement

Two services count visits and show which pages help: Google Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics. The site runs no ads, and neither service is used for advertising.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you arrived, your browser and device, your approximate location, and actions such as scrolling, following a link off the site, downloading a file, and starting or sending a form. It works out your location from your IP address and does not store the address. It does not receive what you type into a form.

In most places it sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_9GJHBWQ8K8, which tell a return visit apart from a first one and last up to two years. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, it sets no cookies and sends only basic measurement that does not link one visit of yours to the next.

Google Analytics keeps the detail of each visit for two months and keeps only totals after that. Sharing this data with Google for its own purposes is switched off.How Google uses information from sites that use its servicescovers the rest.

Ahrefs Web Analytics

Ahrefs Web Analytics sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It tells visitors apart within a single day from a code made from your IP address and browser, which changes every day, and it does not store your IP address. It also records which links off the site you follow.

The waitlist and email

If you join the waitlist, Seaglass keeps your work email to tell you when your home's place opens and uses it for nothing else. If you email hi@seaglass.to, your message and address are kept so you can get a reply.

Your choices

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works the same without them.
  • Install Google's opt-out browser add-on to turn off Google Analytics on every site.
  • Email hi@seaglass.to to ask what Seaglass holds about you, or to have it deleted.
